Ottawa Festival To Present Animation Exposé Talks at 2018 Edition

September 29 event merges Professional Development Day talks and Career Fair activities with new interactive components for an all-out art fun-day at OIAF 2018.

OIAF 2018 is just around the corner -- running September 26-30 in downtown Ottawa -- and the Festival is heading back to the freshly renovated National Arts Centre for its new event, Animation Exposé. Presented with support from Celebrate Ontario and CBC Ottawa, the event merges Professional Development Day talks and Career Fair activities with new interactive components for an all-out art fun-day.

EXPOSÉ TALKS

A terrific lineup awaits students, artists and fans this year. Interested in a career in animation, learning about what happens behind-the-scenes, catching a glimpse of the filmmaking creative process? Then this series of talks is for you. Each presentation will kick off with a “Career Tidbits” blast and some will be followed by signings.

Talks Include:

FREE ANIMATION ACTIVITIES Watch, interact, listen, draw!

Running from 9:00AM-5:00PM in the NAC’s Atrium (Elgin street entrance), take advantage of these drop-in activities:

  • NFB Virtual Reality Zone, featuring multiple VR experiences from the award-winning studio.
  • TAIS’ latest VR Short: Banana Bread by Julian Gallese
  • Drawing sessions with live models
  • Live animation with Chris Dainty: Animating a scene from his upcoming NFB film.
  • Fireside chats: informal chats with industry leaders in animation.
  • Hands-on Animation Workshops by KXB: Classic animation technology on the brand new Multi-Plane Stage.

ANIMATION CAREER FAIR

Make that dream career in animation reality, for free! Are you ready to hone your skills as a budding animator? Do you need more information on how to make that scary first step? Or, are you looking for a career in animation and want to connect directly with right people in the industry? If so, pack up your portfolio and come meet with the various animation schools and industry representatives at the Career Fair from 9:00AM - 5:00PM at the National Arts Centre.
