First Dominican Animated Production ‘Capitan Avispa’ Expands Global Rollout

Directed by famed Dominican Merengue and Bachata singer Jean Gabriel Guerra, the film follows Capitán Avispa, hero of Avispatrópolis and the Honey Kingdom, as he puts to test his nobility, justice, and innocence against the evil wasp Jacques Poison.

The first ever animated film from the Dominican Republic, Capitan Avispa, has expanded its international release to include more than 33 countries, including the United States, Puerto Rico, South and Central America, Canada, and Spain. 

In the film, Capitán Avispa, hero of Avispatrópolis and the Honey Kingdom, puts to test his nobility, justice and innocence against the evil wasp Jacques Poison and his henchmen.

The famed Dominican Merengue and Bachata singer Jean Gabriel Guerra directs alongside Jonnathan Melendez from a script by Guerra, Gustavo Alberto Lopez, and Miguel Yarull. The Despacito singer Luis Fonsi voices the eponymous role.

The film conveys powerful messages about courage, friendship, and the importance of believing in oneself. These fundamental values not only entertain, but also inspire and motivate audiences of all ages.

To celebrate the milestone release, Capitan Avispa is partnering with international brands like Claro and Burger King, offering unique promotions that complement the cinematic experience and further promote the film in key Latin American markets.
