Company 3 Adds DI Colorist Scott Gregory

Fox Recycles Used Guys

After pulling the plug on the project three years ago, Fox is reinventing the sci-fi comedy USED GUYS, according to VARIETY. Ben Stiller is still attached as star and produce, but Jim Carrey is out and LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE directing team of Valerie Faris and Jonathan Dayton are set to replace Jay Roach. In addition, Reese Witherspoon is in talks to star as well.

The story follows two pleasure clones that have run out of their usefulness.

Predators Gets Medieval... Writer

Bloody-Disgusting reports that MEDIEVAL scribe Alex Litvak will be writing a new version of PREDATORS, Robert Rodriguez's planned PREDATOR reboot. Produced by Troublemaker Studios and 20th Century Fox, the film will tell the story of a commando team sent to battle a team of Predators. Rodriguez has said he will not be directing, but Fox is eager to get this one done. They have set July 9, 2010 as the release date.

Inception Adds Yet More Actors

Despite a secret plot, Christopher Nolan's INCEPTION has just added two more top-notch actors: Ken Watanabe and Tom Hardy, per THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.

Nolan wrote the script, an actioner set in the architecture of the mind, and will direct. Leonardo DiCaprio stars as a CEO-type, while Watanabe will be the film's villain who is blackmailing DiCaprio's character. Hardy will be a member of DiCaprio's team.

The cast already includes Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Cillian Murphy, Ellen Page and Marion Cotillard. Watanabe worked with Nolan on BATMAN BEGINS.

FX to Air Wolverine, Taken

FX has purchased the network TV rights to 20th Century Fox's X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE, TAKEN and MARLEY & ME, per VARIETY.

The deal could be worth as much as $80 million, depending on how much WOLVERINE makes at the box office. Other films acquired in the transaction include THE WRESTLER, THE DAY THE EARTH STOOD STILL, BRIDE WARS, 12 ROUNDS and STREET FIGHTER: THE LEGEND OF CHUN-LI.

WOLVERINE is expected to show up on the cable channel's schedule in late 2011, about 30 months after theatrical release.

Lionsgate Open to Games

MCVUK.com is reporting that Lionsgate is moving into games, producing casual and mobile titles from its TV and film properties. The studio is seeking developer partners to turn films like CRANK, RAMBO and SAW into playable entertainment. These new initiatives would be separate from console licensing, which Lionsgate’s president of digital media Curt Marvis thinks the company's titles are less viable.

Potter Director Grabbing Reins of Lone Ranger?

In a brief Twitter post, Production Daily said HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE director Mike Newell was in negotiations to direct Disney's LONE RANGER. Little is known of the project outside of an announcement that Johnny Depp was attached to play Tonto and that PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN scribes Ted Elliot and Terry Russo had penned the script. Newell is currently in production on PRINCE OF PERSIA for Disney.

Warner Bros. has picked up the live-action feature rights to Japanese manga series DEATH NOTE, according to VARIETY. Writers Charley and Vlas Parlapanides will adapt the project. Friday the 13th Director's Next Chapter Comes from Dracula

Via VARIETY, we learn FRIDAY THE 13TH helmer Marcus Nispel is in negotiations to direct THE LAST VOYAGE OF DEMETER, which is based on the chapter in Bram Stoker's DRACULA where the Count travels from Transylvania to England aboard a cargo ship. The Phoenix Pictures production will be produced by Mike Medavoy, Arnie Messer, and Brad Fischer.
