Aviator & The Incredibles Top 2004 Golden Reel Awards
THE AVIATOR and THE INCREDIBLES took the top feature and animated film sound editing award categories at the 52nd Annual Golden Reel Awards, doled out by the Motion Picture Sound Editors on Feb. 26, 2005, at the Century Plaza Hotel in Los Angeles. The Golden Reel Awards acknowledge the year's best work in the various areas of sound editing.
The Incredibles Wins Two Oscars & Ryan Wins Shorts Race
Pixar earned its second animated feature Oscar for THE INCREDIBLES at the 77th Annual Academy Awards, Feb. 27, 2005, while Skywalker Sound won the Best Sound Editing Award. Animated feature was the award up for the night, collected by a jubilant Brad Bird. He thanked the holy trinity at Pixar referring to Ed Catmull, Steve Jobs and John Lasseter for creating the greatest studio on the face of the Earth, Bird said.
Spider-Man and Harry Potter Sequels Lead VES Awards Along With Aviator
It was SPIDER-MAN 2 and THE AVIATOR running neck and neck for the most awards, taking three each, at the 3rd Annual VES Awards Wednesday night, Feb. 16, 2005, but it was HARRY POTTER AND THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN that pulled out with the top honor for Outstanding Visual Effects in a Visual Effects Driven Motion Picture at a black-tie gala at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles.
Anima 2005/Brussels Announces Winners
Anima 2005, the 24th Animation Festival drew to a close on February 13, 2005, in Brussels with an awards ceremony for Anima 2005's national and international competition. The award winners were chosen by the public, via attendance and voting at the official competition screenings and there were juried categories.
With 13 feature films in competition, Anima reflected Europes important role the boom in animated films.

BAFTA Winners Announced
THE AVIATOR has won four BAFTAs at the Feb. 12, 2005, Orange British Academy Film Awards. Martin Scorseses Howard Hughes biopic received awards in the categories Film, Actress in a Supporting Role for Cate Blanchett, Make-Up & Hair and Production Design. The effects on the film were done by Camera e-Motion, New Deal Studios and Sony Pictures Imageworks.
Nominees Announced For 5th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards
The International Game Developers Association (IGDA) has announced nominees for the 5th annual Game Developers Choice Awards, the premier accolades for peer-recognition in the game industry. Recipients will be awarded on March 9, 2005, at a ceremony during the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco.
"Thousands of developers voiced their picks during the Choice Awards' open nominations process," said Jason Della Rocca, executive director, IGDA. "The high prestige of these honors comes from the fact that fellow developers recognize each other's best work."
SCI-FI-LONDON Announces 4th Festival Awards
The SCI-FI-LONDON film festival (London International Festival of Science Fiction and Fantastic Film) announced the winners of this years awards, doled out Feb. 6, 2005. Cube Zero one for Best Visual Effects while Sky Blue took the prize for Best Anime.
Incredibles Grabs Top Prizes at Imagina Awards 2005
Disney/Pixars THE INCREDIBLES took home the Grand Prix and Best Feature Film prizes at the Imagina Awards 2005, held Feb. 4, 2005, in Monte Carlo, Monaco. The jury panel included RYAN director Chris Landreth, PINOCCHIO 3000 producer Paco Rodriguez, WALLACE & GROMIT producer Michael Rose and SHARK TALE director Vicky Jenson.

Birthday Boy Shorts Winner at Animex Student Animation Awards
BIRTHDAY BOY won for Best Short Animation in the Animex Student Animation Awards announced Feb. 4, 2005, at Animex Talk! during the Animex International Festival of Animation, located in Middlesex, England. The festival, in its sixth year, is organized by the University of Teesside, attracting animators and experts from some of the biggest houses in the industry.
The Incredibles Earns Golden Tomato
Rotten Tomatoes (RottenTomatoes.com), the online source for gauging the critical reaction for movies, has given THE INCREDIBLES its Golden Tomato Award for 2004 in the Wide Release category. SIDEWAYS was awarded a Golden Tomato for a Limited Release.
The Golden Tomato Award is handed out annually by Rotten Tomatoes in recognition of the year's best-reviewed films; this year the film site split the award to recognize films in the Wide Release and Limited Release categories.

Disney/Pixars THE INCREDIBLES is up for four Oscars in the list of nominees just released by The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for the 77th Annual Academy Awards, starting with Best Animated Feature, where it is pitted against DreamWorks SHREK 2 and SHARK TALE. Scarlett Johansson to Host Academy's Sci-Tech Awards
Portions of the Oscar presentations will be taped for inclusion in the Feb. 29 Academy Awards broadcast. Johansson will appear live on the Oscar telecast to introduce the Sci-Tech segment.

VES Selects SynCast to Deliver Nominated Material
SyncCast has been selected by the Visual Effects Society (VES) to host and stream the nominated content for voting by its members of the material from many of the box office hits of 2004.
For the first time in the VES Awards' history, final viewing and voting will take place online via the VES Website from Jan. 31 to Feb. 12. This groundbreaking method will allow VES members worldwide to view encrypted clips of the nominees' work and vote in a safe and secure online environment. Only VES members may vote and a special password is required to view and vote online.
Grand-Prize Winners Selected in First-Ever Nicktoons Film Festival
Filmmakers Mark Simon and Travis Blaise from Orlando were the grand-prize winners in the Nicktoons Film Festival for their short film, TIMMY'S LESSONS IN NATURE. The 2D animated, comedic look at what not to do in the wild outdoors garnered them the $10,000 prize money, selected by festival sponsors Nicktoons, Frederator Studios and ANIMATION MAGAZINE.
BAFTA Film Nods Announced
The Orange British Academy Film Awards nominees were announced on Jan. 17, 2005 with Martin Scorseses THE AVIATOR leading the pack with 14 nods. Three visual effects filled dramas topped the list for Best Film, including THE AVIATOR, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and FINDING NEVERLAND. Those pics will compete with THE MOTORCYCLE DIARIES and VERA DRAKE.
The Incredibles Up For Production Design Honor
In an unusual move, The Art Directors Guild (ADG) included THE INCREDIBLES in its nominees for Excellence In Production Design for a Period or Fantasy Film, making it one of the few animated films to ever be considered against live-action films in the history of the awards.
INCREDIBLES production designer Lou Romano is competing for the honor against fellow production designers Dante Ferretti for THE AVIATOR, Gemma Jackson for FINDING NEVERLAND, Rick Heinrichs for LEMONY SNICKET'S A SERIES OF UNFORTUNATE EVENTS and Anthony Pratt for THE PHANTOM OF THE OPERA.
Condom-Use PSAs Win CINE Golden Eagle
THE THREE AMIGOS, a series of 20 animated Public Service Announcements (PSAs) designed to entrench the use of condoms to stop the spread of HIV/AIDS throughout the world, have been awarded a CINE Golden Eagle. THE THREE AMIGOS, along with 800 other PSA, are part of the worlds largest integrated behavior modification program that launched at the United Nations on Jan. 11, 2005. This public awareness program has a potential reach of approximately 80% of the worlds population.
Critics Toast The Incredibles and Spider-Man 2
THE INCREDIBLES won the top prize for animated feature while SPIDER-MAN 2 was named best popular movie of the year at 10th annual Critics' Choice Awards broadcast Jan. 10, 2005 on The WB from the Wiltern Theater in Los Angeles.
FINDING NEVERLAND was named best family film.
People Choose Shrek 2 for Top Animation Movie, Film Comedy & Sequel
SHREK 2 was a triple favorite at the People's Choice Awards, picking up honors for best animated motion picture, top film comedy and best sequel during the telecast Jan. 9, 2004, on CBS, at the Pasadena Civic Auditorium.
Donkey, voiced by Edie Murphy in SHREK 2, also won for favorite animated movie star while the Fairy Godmother, voiced by Jennifer Saunders, also in SHREK 2 was named best movie villain.
DreamWorks SHREK 2 was the only animated winner in THE PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS, which gauge fan appeal.
