HBO Drops Teaser, First Look Images for ‘House of the Dragon’ Season 2

Based on George R.R. Martin’s ‘Fire & Blood,’ the series follows House Targaryen 200 years before the events of ‘Game of Thrones;’ the second installment debuts Summer 2024 on HBO and streams on Max.

Fire to fire, blood for blood. HBO released the official teaser and first look images for the second season of its original drama series House of the Dragon over the weekend, during its CCXP23 panel in São Paulo, Brazil.

Based on George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” the series tells the story of House Targaryen 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones.

The returning cast includes Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rhys Ifans. Additional returning cast includes Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall, and Matthew Needham.

New to the series are Clinton Liberty as Addam of Hull; Jamie Kenna as Ser Alfred Broome; Kieran Bew as Hugh; Tom Bennett as Ulf; Tom Taylor as Lord Cregan Stark; Vincent Regan as Ser Rickard Thorne; Abubakar Salim as Alyn of Hull; Gayle Rankin as Alys Rivers; Freddie Fox as Ser Gwayne Hightower; and Simon Russell Beale as Ser Simon Strong.

Martin acts as co-creator/executive producer alongside Ryan Condal, who also showruns. Sara Hess, Alan Taylor, Melissa Bernstein, Kevin de la Noy, Loni Peristere, and Vince Gerardis executive produce.

The season’s VFX houses include BUF, Frame by Frame, FutureWorks Media, Incessant Rain Studios, Lux Machina Consulting, Midas VFX, MPC, MR. X, NVIZ, Outpost VFX, Pixomondo, The Third Floor Inc, and Vast, with Angus Bickerton acting as visual effects supervisor.

The eight-episode second season of House of the Dragon debuts Summer 2024 on HBO and will be available to stream on Max.
