The 16th edition of the festival, being held October 8-17, is accepting submissions in the following competitive categories: feature film, short film, anidoc, student film, music video, children’s film, and VR film.
Animest Bucharest International Animation Film Festival is the only festival in Romania dedicated to animated film. Founded in 2006, it gathers films from around the world in competitive categories both for short and feature film. The 16th edition is being held October 8-17 and is now accepting submissions for films produced after January 1, 2020 in the following categories:
- Feature films
- Short films
- Anidoc
- Student film (graduate or undergraduate)
- Music Video
- Romanian short film
- Children’s film
- VR film
The winners receive trophies and prize money, while the recipient of the Animest Trophy will be eligible for consideration in the animated short film category of the Academy Awards without the standard theatrical run, provided the film otherwise complies with the Academy rules. Animest is the only Academy Award-qualifying film festival in Romania. It is also a partner of EMILE Awards, the European Animation Awards.
Deadline for submission is June 20, 2021.
