Netflix Releases ‘Trese’ Trailer and Full Voice Cast

Darren Criss, Jon Jon Briones, and Nicole Scherzinger join Shay Mitchell and Liza Soberano in the highly anticipated anime series, based on Budjette Tan and KaJO Baldisimo’s graphic novel, premiering June 11, 2021.

Netflix just dropped the official trailer, and released the full English and Filipino voice casts, for the highly anticipated Netflix Original Anime series Trese, now set to premiere June 11, 2021. Based on the Philippine graphic novel by Budjette Tan and KaJO Baldisimo, with animation by Lex+Otis, the show is set in a Manila, where mythical creatures of Philippine folklore live in hiding amongst humans, and Alexandra Trese finds herself going head-to-head with a criminal underworld comprised of malevolent supernatural beings.

Darren Criss (The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story), Jon Jon Briones (Ratched), Nicole Scherzinger (Moana), Manny Jacinto (The Good Place), Lou Diamond Phillips (La Bamba) and Dante Basco (Avatar: The Last Airbender) join Shay Mitchell (YOU, Pretty Little Liars), previously announced as the voice of Alexandra Trese in the English language version. Filipino actress Liza Soberano (My Ex and Whys, Alone/Together) stars as Alexandra Trese. She will be joined by local professional voice talents Simon dela Cruz (as Crispin and Basilio), Apollo Abraham (Captain Guerrero), Christopher Carlo Caling (Hank), Christian Velarde (Nuno), and Eugene Adalia (Anton Trese). Filipino Language Voice Artist Director Rudolf Baldonado will direct the local voice talents.

Jay Oliva (Justice League Dark, The Legend of Korra) serves as director, executive producer and showrunner. Shanty Harmayn and Tanya Yuson executive produce for Jakarta and Singapore-based BASE Entertainment. The series is written by Yuson, Zig Marasigan, and Mihk Vergara. Series directors are David Hartman (Transformers: Prime), Mel Zwyer (Star Wars Rebels), and Tim Divar (Young Justice). Jojo Aguilar (Tron Uprising) serves as production designer and art director, with character design by Will Nichols (Star Wars: The Clone Wars). Christopher Lozinski (Batman: The Killing Joke) serves as editor.
