Keanu Reeves’ ‘BRZRKR’ Live-Action Film and Anime Series Land at Netflix

Streamer will develop two new projects based on the comic book series co-written and co-created by Reeves and Matt Kindt, which follows the gruesome journey of immortal warrior ‘B’ as he attempts to discover a means to his own end.

It’s time for another installment of the Keanu Entertainment Takeover! In addition to appearing in some huge theatrical hits over the last few years (a favorite being Always Be My Maybe), the forever-cool actor also had time to create and pen the comic “BRZRKR for BOOM! Studios alongside New York Times bestselling writer Matt Kindt. The first issue of the 12-issue limited series debuted March 3, and has already sold over 615,000, making it the highest-selling launch in almost thirty years. Netflix has now acquired rights to the comic book and will first adapt the story into a feature film followed by an anime spinoff series.

“BRZRKR” is a brutally epic saga about an immortal warrior’s 80,000-year fight through the ages. The man known only as “B" is half-mortal and half-god, cursed and compelled to violence… even at the sacrifice of his sanity. But after wandering the earth for centuries, B may have finally found a refuge: working for the U.S. government to fight the battles too violent and too dangerous for anyone else. In exchange, B will be granted the truth about his endless blood-soaked existence…and how to end it.

The anime series will further expand the “BRZRKR” universe by exploring different elements of the story. In the series, Reeves will reprise his lead role of ‘B’ from the film and voice the character.

Reeves, Ross Richie, and Stephen Christy will produce for BOOM! Studios alongside Stephen Hamel for Company Films. Adam Yoelin for BOOM! Studios will executive produce
