Brak Show Goes Mobile in the U.K.

GlobalFun, a wireless entertainment development and publishing company, and www.adultswim.co.uk have teamed up to develop mobile games.

The deal sees GlobalFun developing a mobile game based on the [adult swim] program THE BRAK SHOW. The mobile game is a sim/social type of game in the vein of THE SIMS and contains well-known elements and characters from the popular show. GlobalFun will also, for certain selected markets, distribute the title to its carrier and B2C.

Mr. Hell Show Ascends to DVD

After years of legal wrangling, the irreverent British animated series THE MR. HELL SHOW has arrived on DVD in the U.K. MVM is releasing the multi-award winning animated comedy sketch show for adults as a double disc set featuring all 13 episodes of the show. The set sells for £24.99.

The Comic Strip Network today announced that select comic strips, starting with Darren Jones' MOSTLY HEADS, will be part of the live cartoon improv comedy show Cartoon Overlord. Using a proprietary videogame engine created in Dark Basic, actors performing to a live audience at ACME Comedy Theatre in Hollywood will drive cartoon characters using videogame controllers as they improvise comedy sketches on stage and output the show as glorious HDTV cartoons.

Continuing Cartoon Network's move into the live-action arena, Adult Swim has announced premiere dates for two original live-action series. From the creators of TOM GOES TO THE MAYOR comes TIM AND ERIC AWESOME SHOW, GREAT JOB, a variety sketch show premiering on Sunday, Feb. 11, 2007, at 11:45 pm (ET/PT). Immediately following is SAUL OF THE MOLE MEN, a comedy/adventure shot entirely in front of a greenscreen, at 12:00 midnight (ET/PT).

Nicktoons Premieres The Secret Show Animated Series

Nicktoons Network, Nickelodeons 24-hour animation network, premieres THE SECRET SHOW, an original series from U.K. producer Collingwood OHare Ent., on Jan. 20, 2007, at 8:30 pm. The 13 half-hour series, which is packed with covert missions, layers of secrecy and original storylines, will air regularly Saturdays at 8:30 pm on Nicktoons Network.

Paramount Home Ent. has released a box set featuring THE ANIMATION SHOW Volumes 1 and 2 on DVD, Jan. 16, 2007. The set is a collection of short animated films, which screened as part of animators Mike Judge and Don Hertzfeldt touring theatrical series, THE ANIMATION SHOW. Priced at $26.99, this two-disc DVD set features 20 celebrated animated short films personally selected by Judge, himself an animation festival veteran, and Academy Award nominated animator Hertzfeldt. Included in the collection are Academy Award nominees THE CATHEDRAL, THE ROCKS and MT.

Ben 10 Extends Into All New Product Categories

Cartoon Network's hit BEN 10 has signed new softlines deals with Jay.Franco and Sons Inc., Accessory Innovations and AME (American Marketing Enterprises, Inc.), that will bring a full line of bed, bath and beach items, accessories, sleepwear and more to market in 2007.

These new partnerships for BEN 10 follow earlier announcements for the franchise in children's footwear and clothing with SG Footwear and ODM. The series also has a successful toy line on shelf from Bandai America Inc. that includes transforming toys, role-play, action figures and playsets.

Comedy Centrals FREAK SHOW, an animated half-hour narrative featuring a band of freak show performers who also happen to be second-rate superheroes, debuts on Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006, at 10:30 pm. The seven-episode series is based on an idea by David Cross (ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT, MR. SHOW) and H. Jon Benjamin (DR. KATZ: PROFESSIONAL THERAPIST, HOME MOVIES). Mighty:Pictures Promos Lost Ren & Stimpy DVD

Mighty:Pictures has created an edgy 15-second spot heralding the highly anticipated new DVD release of REN & STIMPY: THE LOST EPISODES, a Spike TV property.

The four-year old company, headed up by partners Charlie Sadoff and Mary Matyas, has long been associated with the show, explains Sadoff. "This is the fourth REN & STIMPY spot weve been called upon to create for the Paramount shows DVD release," says Sadoff. "We've also produced the trailers for each of those DVDs, as well as a number of longer format TV spots.

Newspeak Opens in NYC with mtvU & VH1 Projects

Newspeak has started up in New York City as a young design boutique specializing in motion design, art direction and identity development. Founded by Erik Montovano, its creative director, he is joined at Newspeak by Andreea Prichea as exec producer. The companys initial projects are a major show package for mtvU MTVs 24-hour college network, and show packages for three Vh1Classic series.
