The National Film Board of Canada (NFB) is back at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival – the premier showcase for U.S. and international independent films, taking place January 21 to 31 – with another outstanding selection of animated shorts. Cordell Baker’s satire Runaway, Bruce Alcock’s Acadian tale, Vive la Rose, and David Coquard-Dassault’s meditation on the rhythm of human activity, Rains have been selected for this year’s festival lineup.

Toronto, June 29, 2009 -- Chris Landreth's animated short THE SPINE, produced by the National Film Board of Canada in association with Copperheart Animation and C.O.R.E. Digital Pictures, was honoured with the Best of the Festival award -- the top prize -- at the 2009 Melbourne International Animated Festival on Sunday, June 28. Landreth received this same honour in 2005 for his Academy Award winning short RYAN.

Nelvana to Represent Mr. Men, Little Miss in Canada

Nelvana Enterprises has reached an agreement with Chorion to become the Canadian licensing agent for its MR. MEN and LITTLE MISS brand, to include merchandise such as apparel and accessories, toys and novelty items, as well as live stage shows and character appearances.

Based on the classic 1970s book series by British author Roger Hargreaves, the property has a global presence with both children and adults.

Created by Proximity Canada, BBDO Toronto, and Firstborn Multimedia based in New York, the campaign uses television, point of sale and online media inviting consumers to find and collect eggs with PIN codes and point values hidden on the web and inside specially marked packages of M&M's Speck-tacular Eggs. Nelvana Brings In The Night Garden To DVD For First Time in Canada

Corus Ent.'s Nelvana Enterprises has announced the first Canadian DVD release of the popular preschool television show IN THE NIGHT GARDEN. The initial DVD, "Welcome to the Garden," features four episodes and is set for release on April 28, 2009.

Launched under Nelvana's Treehouse Presents label, the DVD series will be distributed by Universal Studios Home Entertainment Canada. Nelvana Enterprises acquired the Canadian home entertainment rights from BBC Worldwide Americas and further DVD releases are planned for fall 2009 and beyond.
