Fox to Award Development Deal to Winner of Fox-Aniboom Holiday Animation Challenge

Fox Broadcasting Company (FOX) and 20th Century Fox Television and Aniboom, the world’s first virtual animation studio, announced today that FOX will award Jay Malone, creator of animated short “Santa Intervention,” a development deal. “Santa Intervention” was selected by a panel of FOX executives as the grand prize-winning entry in this year’s FOX-Aniboom Holiday Animation Challenge. Malone, of Los Angeles, CA, will receive cash prizes totaling $15,000 and a development deal.

ABC Family Will Host Night of Pixar Short Films

Attention animators! The 10th Annual San Diego Asian Film Festival 2009 will once again be showcasing animated short films produced by animators of Asian ethnicities in a 90-minute all-animation program. All forms of animation (traditional, claymation, stop-motion, flash, CGI, etc) will be accepted for consideration into this competitive festival. Films by all animators pertaining to Asian issues and themes will also be considered. Only DVD formats are accepted for consideration. A Best Animated Short Film Award will be awarded with prizes to be determined.

National Film Board of Canada to Offer Public Screenings

In celebration of International Animation Day and the National Film Board of Canada’s 70th anniversary, the NFB is launching a special edition of Get Animated! – a series of free public screenings, from October 23–31, 2009, in 13 communities across Canada.

Animation Dance Association Championships

Begins: October 7, 2009

Now for the first time in the history of animation ADA creates a professional league among animators, similar to those of NFL, NBA, and MLB.

ADA divided the planet into four divisions and each division will consist of 30 professional teams.

In order to select the best teams there will be held a 16-week Championship starting on October 7. The main prize is $100,000 but every week you will also have a chance to win $10,000.

Absolutely anybody who created an animated clip and uploaded it to www.adasport.com can take part in the Championship.
