Brad Bird, Michael Giacchino and Ralph Eggleston to Keynote VIEW 2019

Oscar-winning director, composer and production designer, who teamed together on ‘Incredibles 2,’ are set to present at October 21-25 digital media conference and symposium in Turin, Italy.  

The VIEW Conference 2019 has just announced that director Brad Bird, composer Michael Giacchino and production designer Ralph Eggleston will give keynote addresses at the Oct. 21-25 symposium. In addition, Giacchino will perform a concert of his music during the conference.

According to conference director, Dr. Maria Elena Gutierrez, “Year after year, VIEW Conference has established its reputation as the event where the best and the brightest from the world's digital industries convene to exchange experiences, discuss their work, and to enrich, teach and inspire us. Increasingly, VIEW is not just an event - it’s an experience, a community. It’s where you should be, too.”

Each year, the conference brings together top directors, studio heads, animators, game developers, visual effects artists and inventors who create live-action films, animated films, games, and virtual reality project, for a week of talks, masterclasses and networking within the relaxed beauty and culture of the northern Italian city of Turin.

Bird, Giacchino and Eggleston join the already announced Dean DeBlois, writer, director and executive producer of How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World, and Changhan (CH) Kim, CEO of PUBG Corporation, known for its online multiplayer game PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds (PUBG), at the event.

Other notable keynote speakers include Maureen Fan, CEO and co-founder of Emmy- and Annie-award-winning Baobab Studios; renowned physicist Daniel Zajfman, president of the Weizmann Institute of Science in Israel; and Janelle Croshaw Ralla, a VFX supervisor on Marvel Studios’ international blockbuster action-adventure, Captain Marvel.

Eloi Champagne, technical director at Montreal's NFB Animation Studio; Nikola Damjanov, lead game artist at Nordeus; Escape Studios Director Ian Palmer; and Wieke Schrakamp, research manager health & behavior at Amsterdam's playful learning studio IJsfontein, will also speak at the conference.

Bird is the award-wining director, screenwriter, animator, producer and voice actor, whose Incredibles 2 was on of last year's biggest hits. In addition, he is known for his animated feature films The Iron Giant, The Incredibles and Ratatouille, as well as the animated short film Family Dog. He also directed the live-action films, Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol and Tomorrowland. He is currently writing a live-action musical for Sony Pictures which will include twenty minutes of animation and feature music by Giacchino.

Giacchino has scored countless hit films, including the Oscar-winning score for the 2009 Pixar film Up. His work will be heard this year in the upcoming Spider-Man: Far From Home, and he composed the music for last year's Incredibles 2, Bad Times at the El Royale and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. In addition, he's composed the music for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Doctor Strange, Coco and Inside Out. His list of credits stretches across more than 130 films, TV series and video games.

Longtime Pixar filmmaker Ralph Eggleston was the production designer on Bird's Incredibles 2 and other Pixar hits including Inside Out, WALL-E and Finding Nemo.  He was the art director on The Incredibles and Toy Story, and won an Oscar for his animated short, For the Birds.

The international VIEW Conference, Italy’s premiere event for Computer Graphics, Interactive and Immersive Storytelling, Animation, Visual Effects, Games, and VR, AR and Mixed Reality, brings top professionals from those fields to the beautiful baroque city of Turin, Italy for a week of talks, presentations, workshops, B2Bs and recruitment.
