‘Animaniacs Are Back!' Holographic Characters Sighted Atop Cabs in LA and NYC

For launch weekend of Hulu’s highly anticipated animated cartoon series reboot, Firefly used next generation holoprojector devices to create first-of-its-kind 3D hologram experiences in iconic locations.

SAN FRANCISCO -- Firefly has launched a first-of-its-kind hologram campaign celebrating the long-awaited return of Animaniacs, now streaming on Hulu. The company’s street-level digital media network powered Hulu’s holographic activation, featuring the characters in iconic locations around Los Angeles and New York. The stunt ran atop taxis and rideshare vehicles over the course of the show’s opening weekend.

Throughout the weekend-long activation, Firefly outfitted its proprietary smart media displays with hologram projectors to place the Warner siblings, Yakko and Wakko, and the Warner sister Dot in iconic locations across Los Angeles and New York. The three-dimensional, holographic characters could be found atop Firefly’s fleet of taxi and rideshare vehicles in New York at Madison Square Garden, Times Square, the Museum of Modern Art, and Rockefeller Center, and in Los Angeles at Santa Monica Pier, The Grove, Sunset Strip, and TCL Chinese Theater.

The next generation holoprojector device spins at a rapid 30 frames per second, creating the most realistic 3D hologram experience in the market today.

“Brands deserve more from out-of-home advertising -- static, traditional creative simply isn’t enough to resonate with a modern audience,” explained Firefly CEO and co-founder, Kaan Gunay. “At Firefly, we reimagine the physical world for consumers, with captivating campaigns that meet them where they live, work and play. We’re thrilled to honor the reboot in an all-new, unforgettable way, with a campaign that would never be possible with traditional methods of advertising. We couldn’t think of a better way to honor the characters and world of Animaniacs.”

Firefly’s unique street-level media offering delivers personalized brand experiences with hyper-relevant campaigns and full-funnel measurement capabilities, monitoring everything from footfall traffic to brand impact to app downloads. With dynamic content triggers like driver routes, area demographics, traffic patterns, time-of-day, and real-time weather conditions, the platform is trusted by brands like PUMA, Dunkin’, Truly, Colgate, Stella Artois, 7-Eleven, Papa Johns and Postmates to deliver highly-effective outdoor campaigns.
