This week's updates to the Calendar of Events includes nine new animation-related events, including the Brussels and Annecy festivals' 2000 editions, and the Animated Castles festival in Italy this October. The Calendar of Upcoming Events is a constantly changing reference source for what's happening around the World of Animation. Use it to stay abreast of animation related activities across the globe. Animha Productions' Latest News

Animha Productions, a unique association of professionals dedicated to independent film production and animation workshops, recently produced "When the Water is Sick...," in association with the ASIFA Workshops Group. "When the Water is Sick..." has been shortlisted for an award at the 6th Bradford International Animation Festival (BAF!). It will also be included in a special compilation of animated films by children from around the world to be screened in Annecy, France, during the summer of 1999. UNICEF films premiere at the Annecy Film Festival

Thirty-seven never-before-seen CARTOONS FOR CHILDREN'S RIGHTS PSA's will be shown at the Annecy Film Festival in Annecy, France on Tuesday, June 1 at 6 pm. A global broadcast initiative organized by the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), CARTOONS FOR CHILDREN'S RIGHTS informs people about children's rights, as set forth by the 1989 United Nations General Assembly Convention on the Rights of the Child. To help raise awareness of these rights, UNICEF has collected 66 CARTOONS FOR CHILDREN'S RIGHTS spots produced by animators from 32 countries.

Elfriede Fischinger died quietly in her sleep at her home on Thursday, May13, 1999. She was born September 17, 1910, in Gelnhausen near Frankfurt,Germany.
