Deadline for submissions to the 16th Annual VES Awards is November 30, 2017.
The Visual Effects Society has announced the Rules & Procedures for the 16th Annual VES Awards, which will be held February 13, 2018 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel.
The format of the Rules & Procedures is the same as last year so that all the information needed to make a submission in any category can be quickly found and accessed on the same page, along with a “Click for details” button which will open up the full instructions for that section.
Changes to this year’s R&Ps include redrawn definitions in Categories for Supporting VFX in Features and Television, as well as the Models category.
More significantly are the changes to the maximum allowed running times of the video material in the Work To Be Considered and the Before and Afters. These new limits were necessary to address the significant expansion in entries that are stressing the Vetting, Nomination Events and View & Vote experiences. Anyone with questions or concerns about this decision should send their comments to awards@visualeffectssociety.com (link sends e-mail).
Although there is no longer a requirement to submit printed copies of written supplemental material, the VES still encourages entrants to submit optional PDFs of written supplemental material for posting to the View & Vote site.

- Submissions Open: October 9, 2017
- Upload Viewing Materials: November 6 through November 30, 2017
- Submission Deadline: November 30, 2017
