Ana Nogueira to Pen DC Studios ‘Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow’ Feature

First announced as part of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DCU, the live-action science fiction adventure is based on Tom King’s award-winning dark comics stories; Sasha Calle to reprise her role as Superman’s cousin Kara Zor-El, along with her superdog Krypto.

Ana Nogueira (Which Way to the Stage) is set to pen the upcoming DC Studios feature Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, first announced as part of James Gunn and Peter Safran’s new DCU, according to Variety. The live-action science fiction adventure is based on Tom King’s award-winning dark comics stories and features Superman’s cousin Kara Zor-El and her superdog Krypto. Sasha Calle is set to reprise her role as Supergirl from The Flash.

“We see the difference between Superman, who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he’s an infant, versus Supergirl, who was raised on a rock chip off of Krypton, and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life,” Gunn previously shared.

The upcoming DCU slate is comprised of 10 film and television projects, which all interconnect within the same universe. Viewers can expect projects to share characters, unless appearing outside of the shared continuity.

The new saga (much like the MCU ‘Phases’) will begin with “Chapter 1,” in the theme of “Gods and Monsters.” The first film in the new slate is Gunn’s Superman: Legacy, set to release in theaters on July 11, 2025.

No word yet on a director or who will handle the ‘super’ VFX.
