Oggy 'Round The World

French animation company Xilam, has signed a slate of broadcast deals for the third season of its animated comedy OGGY AND THE COCKROACHES, they announced Tuesday.

In addition to French pay TV broadcaster Canal +, which is to air season three in fall 2008, other broadcasters signed up for more OGGY include Mediaset (Italy), VRT (Belgium), MTV Oy (Finland) and Noga (Israel).

Monster Buster Nabbed By Toon Disney

Marathon Group's MONSTER BUSTER CLUB has been picked up by Toon Disney to air in the U.S. VARIETY reports.

French-based Marathon is the country's biggest TV animator, and has already sold three big franchises to the U.S.: TOTALLY SPIES!, TEAM GALAXY and MARTIN MYSTERY.

MONSTER BUSTER is Marathon's first CG animated series, complete with a big price tag for the first season: $21 million.

The series is about a secret club of 4-10 year olds who rumble an alien invasion in their town.

Bangladeshi Sesame Street Will Broadcast Internationally

Bangla-speaking children in the Middle East, the United Kingdom and North America now have the opportunity to meet the beloved Muppets from SISIMPUR, the award-winning Bangladeshi adaptation of SESAME STREET.

The first season of SISIMPUR, consisting of 52 half-hour episodes, now broadcasts internationally on cable Channel i on Saturdays at 6:00 p.m. and Sundays at 4:45 a.m. Bangladesh time (equivalent to Saturdays at 7:00 a.m. and Sundays at 5:45 p.m. New York time).

World Of Quest Coming Soon To Kids' WB

Cookie Jar Entertainment's newest series, WORLD OF QUEST, makes its debut on Kids' WB! on The CW on March 15, airing from10:30-11:00 a.m.

The network is scheduled to broadcast the first 13 half-hour episodes.

WORLD OF QUEST is a comedic action series following the spoiled young Prince Nestor and his pumped up reluctant protector, Quest, and a rag-tag team of cohorts on a mission to save Nestor's parents and their kingdom.

Along Prince Nestor and Quest's travels, they meet an array of weird and wonderful characters who liven up their journey.

MacFarlane To Spinoff Cleveland Brown Character

FAMILY GUY creator Seth MacFarlane, Fox and 20th Century Fox TV are developing a spinoff centered around Peter Griffin's neighbor Cleveland Brown, THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER reports.

MacFarlane, Mike Henry (the voice of Cleveland) and writer-producer of FAMILY GUY and THE SIMPSONS alum Rich Appel (also executive producer and showrunner for MacFarlane's other Fox animated comedy AMERICAN DAD) are writing the project.

Accident-prone Cleveland plays off black stereotypes but is the most levelheaded among Griffin's three friends.

Could Cartoon Mishaps Really Happen?

MAN VS. CARTOON, a new unscripted series on TruTV (formerly Court TV) will attempt to uncover whether the stunts and shenanigans in cartoons could ever actually happen in the real world.

Six hourlong episodes have been ordered from Warner Horizon and Craig Piligian's Pilgrim Films & Television, and will draw upon Warner Bros. huge library of animation.

In keeping with the network's investigation-themed lineup of shows, the project will look into whether it's possible to build a human slingshot, for example.

Blue Dragon Animated Series Coming To Cartoon Network

The highly anticipated BLUE DRAGON animated series will debut on Cartoon Network this spring, VIZ Media announced Friday.

The BLUE DRAGON series is based on the exclusive Xbox 360 videogame BLUE DRAGON, developed by Hironobu Sakaguchi, the creator of FINAL FANTASY, and features character designs by Akira Toriyama, the creator of the best-selling DRAGON BALL series of manga.

The animated series debuted in Japan on TV Tokyo on April 7, 2007 and is produced by Studio Pierrot, which is well known for its work on NARUTO and BLEACH, also licensed by VIZ Media.

Cable Nets Grabbing Unreleased Titles

Cable networks TNT, TBS, USA and FX have been buying up theatrical releases by the dozens in recent weeks, including a package of yet-unreleased Warner Bros. films 10,000 B.C., THE DARK KNIGHT, SPEED RACER to Turner Broadcasting's TNT and TBS, VARIETY reported Wednesday.

The Warners/Turner deal also includes released pictures like TMNT, ANT BULLY and I AM LEGEND.

Details and monies weren't discussed by the parties, but generally with prebuys, the network pays about 11 percent of the final domestic box office, capped at $250 million gross in U.S. theaters.

Disney VOD in China

HANNAH MONTANA, KIM POSSIBLE and EMPEROR'S NEW SCHOOL will now be seen in China via subscription video-on-demand, VARIETY reported Tuesday.

This marks the first Disney VOD service in China, available on Hong Kong's Now TV platform.

Customers already subscribing to the five-channel Disney Special package for $17.70 a month (HK $138) can add the new service for $1.92 a month.

Other shows included in the VOD service are THE SUITE LIFE OF ZACK AND CODY, THAT'S SO RAVEN, LILO & STITCH, AMERICAN DRAGON and HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL.

Robinson Crusoe Remake To Hit NBC

HOLLYWOOD REPORTER reports NBC has ordered 13 episodes of a new ROBINSON CRUSOE series, to take place in the 17th century but will be an "adrenaline-charged version" of the classic 1719 novel by Daniel Defoe.

The show will probably premiere in fall or winter 2009.

Producers are Universal Media Services and British production house Power.

NBC programming chief Ben Silverman is considering other classic tales for remake, including David and Goliath and Jekyll and Hyde, according to a HOLLYWOOD REPORTER source.

Lil' Bush On DVD, Season 2 Announced

The uncensored first season of LIL' BUSH: RESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES will hit stores on March 11, two days before the second season premieres on Comedy Central.

During the inaugural season viewers saw Lil' Bush and Tony Blair become cheerleaders, the Lil' Gang unleash weapons of mass destruction and Lil' Bush make a statement with his Aquaman underpants while facing off against Lil' Kim Jong Il.

The Gang also went on a panty raid against an Al Qaeda training camp and attempted to speed up global warming.

Nickelodeon Adds Lily Collins

Nickelodeon has tapped the talents of 18-year-old Lily Collins, Phil Collins' daughter, to keep tween viewers up-to-date on trends in entertainment and pop culture, it was announced today by Paula Kaplan, Executive Vice President, Talent and West Coast General Manager, Nickelodeon/MTVN Kids and Family Group.

Collins will be seen in various interstitial programming spots airing throughout the day and evening on Nickelodeon, reporting from the sets of Nick series, movie premieres, awards shows, concerts and other celebrity events.

The Replacements Returns Soon

Disney Channel's popular animated comedy series THE REPLACEMENTS about tween siblings who can replace any adult in their life with the help of a mysterious agency, kicks off its second season with a new episode featuring special guest star Tom Arnold on March 10 at 2:30 p.m. ET/PT.

In addition to Arnold, Josh Duhamel, Carson Palmer, Jason Dolley and Tim Gunn are among the guest stars during the second season.

This season, siblings Todd and Riley visit more fantastic locations and undertake more adventures.

Cartoon Network Germany has acquired all TV rights to CHOP SOCKY CHOOKS, a DECODE Entertainment co-production with Aardman Animations, the companies announced today.

The Chooks are a crack team of Kung Fu chickens: Chuckie Chan, Chick P and KO Joe.

The three plucky heroes work undercover at Wasabi World, a towering shopping mall run by their archenemy Dr. Wasabi, a mutated piranha and the head of an evil retain empire.

Fairly OddParents Special A Hit

Nickelodeon's THE FAIRLY ODDPARENTS' President's Day special, FAIRLY ODDBABY, hit a magical ratings high as the year-to-date's number-one entertainment program on all broadcast and basic cable television in all kids' demos (K2-11; K6-11; tweens 9-14).

As well as ranking second only to Super Bowl programming among overall TV shows this year with kids and tweens, the hour-long animated special (8-9 p.m. Feb. 18) scored a whopping 15.4/5.3 million K2-11, up double digits (+96 percent) over last year's like time period.

Eliot Kid Licensed to Cartoon Network in Europe

Cake Distribution announced today their latest comedy action series ELIOT KID was licensed to Cartoon Network for its EMEA Channels.

The deal brings ELIOT KID further into Europe, after securing sales to TF1, BBC, ABC Australia, Disney Channel France, Italy, Spain and Germany, RTBF, TSR, TV2 Denmark and RUV Iceland.

ELIOT KID, a Safari de Ville/Samka Productions co-production, is a comedy-action-adventure animated cartoon for children ages 6-9.

Perry's Newest Madea Project To Be Animated

Tyler Perry's signature character "Madea" will be the focal point of a new animated series.

The untitled cartoon will be funded and produced before the show is shopped to networks.

Perry dresses in drag for Madea, an opinionated and domineering African American woman.

The character has been featured in many of Perry's features, including DIARY OF A MAD BLACK WOMAN, MADEA'S FAMILY REUNION and the forthcoming MEET THE BROWNS.

PEDRO AND FRANKENSHEEP, a new series by The Brothers McLeod (Greg and Myles) and Phil Cooper, will be released on Children's BBC this week on CBBC.

Kappa Karaoke on Nicktoons

Nicktoons Network will premiere a full-length movie for the first time on Saturday, according to C21 Media.

KAPPA MIKEYS KAPPA KARAOKE, a spin-off from the animated Nicktoons show KAPPA MIKEY, will feature 10 original songs with an onscreen bouncing ball to help the audience follow the lyrics.

The series follows the adventures of an American actor, Mikey Simon, who moves to Japan to star in the fictional series LILYMU.

Animation Collective, an American independent behind KAPPA MIKEY, owns KAPPA KARAOKE.

Fans of BRUNO AND THE BANANA BUNCH will soon have a completely new series to enjoy the characters.

Cuppa Coffee Studios announced Tuesday the new series LET'S GO BRUNO!, which combines 2D animation with live action in a simple, yet innovative game show format.

The show originally launched around the world on Nickelodeon with BRUNO, a 50-episode, 1-minute-each series exploring numbers, colors, shapes and sizes.

Voltron Descending on Boomerang

Classic VOLTRON episodes will air on the Boomerang Channel, starting Feb. 18.

The weekly strip show, repackaged from the 1984 episodes, will run for one year Mondays through Fridays.

Production Starts on Australian/Danish Series Enyo

Australian production studio Flying Bark Productions has teamed with Copenhagen-based studio Funhauser Film to co-produce the CGI series ENYO.

The program will being airing on German, Danish, Norwegian and Swedish TV in the fall of 2009.

Flying Bark's parent company EM.Entertainment will handle the worldwide distribution excluding Australia, Denmark and Scandinavia.

ENYO focuses on clever and talented 12-year-old Enyo, who is learning to understand the language of animals, read hidden messages in nature and see glimpses into the future.
