RTV Secures Temporary Financial Reprieve

German children's television producer RTV Family Entertainment has received a temporary reprieve from its financial woes in the form of a bridge credit line issued by a banking syndicate. The funds are backed by a letter of credit from RTV's majority shareholder Ravensburger AG, and will enable the floundering company to cover all current and past due liabilities. RTV still needs approximately 4 million Euro (US$3.7M) to continue operations through the end of the year.

The World Festival of Animated Films, Zagreb 2002, is celebrating its 30th anniversary. For the occasion, the festival is inviting everybody to take part in a special poll for the best of the best animated shorts of the twentieth century. The three winners will receive a special recognition at the festival. Zagreb is a competitive festival. It is accepting all animation works completed in 2000 or after. Submissions can be sent on VHS tapes, but for screening a film print or a BETACAM SP PAL tape must be provided.

THQ Unleashes Scooby-Doo On Game Boy Advance

THQ Inc. has released SCOOBY-DOO! for Game Boy Advance, based on the live-action/CGI movie coming to theaters on June 14, 2002. Players will explore locations featured in the movie, searching for clues to complete missions and ultimately, solve Spooky Island's big mystery. The environments for the game were inspired by actual movie stills and artwork. THQ will also be releasing SCOOBY-DOO! NIGHT OF 100 FRIGHTS, for PlayStation 2 and GameCube, later in 2002.
