The Kellys Are A Hit With Nascar Fans

THE KELLYS, a Web animation series available exclusively on nascar.com, registered over 100,000 downloads of the episodes in the first 10 days of the show's September 26, 2001 launch. THE KELLYS series concept was created by SportsBlast, a company founded by voice actor Nancy Cartwright, who also provides voices for the series. In July, SportsBlast closed a deal with Turner Sports Interactive, a division of AOL Time Warner's Turner Broadcasting Systems, Inc. (TBS) for the show's production and distribution.

Metreon-A Sony Entertainment Center in downtown San Francisco will host the first annual Metreon Festival of Anime the weekend of October 27-28 inside Metreon's Action Theatre attraction. The Metreon Festival of Anime will take place in conjunction with the Big Apple Anime Fest scheduled for the same weekend in New York City.

Angelus Awards Student Film Festival

The Angelus Awards recognize and showcase student films of uncommon artistic caliber which explore the complexity of the human condition with creativity, compassion and respect. Festival entries are open to all undergraduate and graduate film and video students. All genres are accepted (drama. comedy, animation, documentary and narrative). Top award is $10,000. The 2001 Angelus Awards will be held at the Directors Guild of America, Los Angeles, California. This year, the festival has received a record 275 submissions (26 animations), from 88 schools in 24 U.S.

The 16th Annual Gemini Awards

The Gemini Awards is the top honor in television from the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television. Programs eligible for this year's event must have aired between May 1, 2000 and April 30, 2001. The 1st entry deadline (March 8, 2001) is for programs aired between May 1 - August 31, 2000. The 2nd entry deadline (March 22, 2001) is for programs aired between September 1 - November 30, 2000. The 3rd entry deadline (April 5, 2001) is for programs aired between December 1, 2000 - April 30, 2001. The opening gala will take place on October 27, with the industry gala following on October 28.

Join Don Bluth and Gary Goldman at one of their in depth animation seminars in Toronto, September 15 - 16 or in San Francisco, October 27 - 28, 2001. Topics will include: Day 1: drawing, character design and animation; Day 2: storyboard, actiong and directing. There will be lots of demonstrations of how to get your skill level up. The 29th Annual Annie Awards will take place on Saturday, November 10, 2001 at the beautifully restored Alex Theatre, 216 N. Brand Blvd. in Glendale, California.
