Amber Heard’s Role in ‘Aquaman 2’ Reportedly on Shaky Ground

Mera may be replaced by an entirely new lead female of color depending upon upcoming litigation results in actress’ legal fight against ex-husband Johnny Depp.

It seems Amber Heard’s role in Aquaman 2 may be shakier than she claims. Back in November, the controversial actress seemed unphased by fan heat, stating, “I'm super excited about the amount of fan love and the amount of fan appreciation that Aquaman has acquired and that it has garnered so much excitement for Aquaman and Mera that it means we'll be coming back. I'm so excited to film that." Now, notorious tipster Grace Randolph is singing a different tune on Twitter.

Randolph spills that a new female lead for Aquaman 2 will be selected to warm the bench just in case Heard’s ongoing litigation against ex-husband Johnny Depp goes sour. She also mentions director James Wan would prefer this new lead be Asian. May we suggest The Mandalorian badass Ming-Na Wen? We’d love to see her fight some Atlantean crabs. This rumor is shaky, however, so take it with a grain of sea salt. Heard’s role in the Snyder Cut of Justice League was recently extended, so we doubt the studio will actually axe her unless absolutely necessary.

Would you rather see Heard reprise her role as Mera, or have an entirely new lead woman of color?
