Amber Heard Assures Us She Will Return in ‘Aquaman 2’

Despite deep-seated rumors that the actress will be replaced, she tells ‘Entertainment Weekly’ that she will indeed reprise her role as Princess Mera.

A new wave of gossip has just hit us mid-ship; whether we like it or not, Amber Heard wants us to know she’s here to stay. While Aquaman 2 has not been greenlit, and its official cast has yet to be confirmed, Heard is reassuring her fans that she will return as Mera, Princess of the deep. In a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, the controversial actress states, “I'm super excited about the amount of fan love and the amount of fan appreciation that Aquaman has acquired and that it has garnered so much excitement for Aquaman and Mera that it means we'll be coming back. I'm so excited to film that." She also claims that production will begin in 2021.

With absolutely no proof or studio backing up her claims, it’s easy to wonder if Heard is attempting to cover up rumors that she will be replaced due to her continuing legal drama with ex-husband Johnny Depp. Many fans are hoping Emilia Clarke, who played Jason Momoa’s wife in Game of Thrones, will be the one to claim the role of Aquaman’s love interest. Nevertheless, Heard continues, “Paid rumors and paid campaigns on social media don't dictate [casting decisions] because they have no basis in reality. I'm excited to get started next year."

Whom would you rather see as Mera, if Aquaman 2 is greenlit? Amber Heard, Emilia Clarke, or someone else entirely?
