Recruiting Vet Rachelle Lewis Starts Up Animation/VFX Talent Agency

Rachelle Lewis, a long-time professional recruiter in the entertainment industry, has started her own recruiting company, Rachelle Lewis Recruiting and Talent, which specializes in placing animation and vfx artists for studios worldwide.

"My company specializes in placing animation and vfx artists for feature, TV and gaming," Lewis told AWN/VFXWORLD. We also represent artists who have television or feature treatments and help them in developing and pitching their ideas to major studios."

Lewis oversaw the talent procurement for Digital Domain, the five-time Academy Award-winning vfx company. She and her team crewed three feature films for DD, including Clint Eastwoods FLAGS OF OUR FATHERS, Ivan Reitmans SUPER EX-GIRLFRIEND and Peter Hewitts ZOOM. She also worked closely with DDs Commercials Division, which is recognized as the most awarded vfx studio worldwide in the commercial/music video genre.

Prior to Digital Domain, Rachelle worked for Sony Pictures Imageworks, where she specialized in finding and placing animators and other digital character artists on feature films, including OPEN SEASON, THE CHRONICLES OF NARNIA, SURFS UP, MONSTER HOUSE and GHOST RIDER. She also worked with DreamWorks Feature Animation where she brought in artists for features, including SHARK TALE and OVER THE HEDGE.

Lewis started her career in the animation/vfx industry through television animation, as director of recruitment for Klasky Csupo, for many years.

"I think what sets me apart is that I've come from inside the studio environment (I ran the recruiting departments of two major studios) so I understand how things really work on the inside," she said.

She lectures at art schools, universities, festivals and industry events throughout North America and Europe, as well as acts in an advisory capacity developing the animation and vfx curriculum with numerous schools.
