Netflix Drops ‘Exploding Kittens’ Trailer

Based on the popular card game, the adult animated comedy follows God, who gets fired and is sent to Earth as a chubby house cat to reconnect with humanity; streaming July 2024.

Netflix shared a trailer and images for its upcoming adult animated comedy series Exploding Kittens Season 1, based on the popular “Exploding Kittens” card game. From showrunners/creators Shane Kosakowski and Matthew Inman, the show follows a disenfranchised God who is rehabilitating as a house cat on Earth. The show debuts on the streamer sometime in July 2024.

In the series, Earth sucks! So, when God gets fired, he’s sent there to reconnect with humanity. The catch? He's trapped in the body of a chubby house cat. As part of his rehabilitation, he moves in with a dysfunctional family and tries to solve their problems but ends up spending a lot of time chasing laser pointers. And to top it off, Godcat’s next-door neighbor, who is also a cat, turns out to be none other than his nemesis, the Antichrist. The result is the ultimate fight between good versus evil… except, Godcat is distracted by a pigeon he saw in the yard, and Devilcat is busy napping on someone’s laptop.

Tom Ellis (Rush, Lucifer) stars as God, alongside Ally Maki (Wrecked, Toy Story 4), Mark Proksch (What We Do in The Shadows, Better Call Saul), Sasheer Zamata (Woke, Home Economics), and Kenny Yates.

Exploding Kittens is executive produced by Mike Judge, Greg Daniels, and Dustin Davis of Bandera Entertainment; Peter Chernin and Jenno Topping for the Chernin Entertainment Group; and executive producers and creators of the “Exploding Kittens” franchise, Elan Lee and The Oatmeal’s Inman.
