Laura’s Star Rises on DVD

LAURA'S STAR, the acclaimed German animated feature, directed by Thilo Gruf Rothkirch and Piet de Rycker (THE LITTLE POLAR BEAR), makes its way to DVD Sept. 26 (Warner Home Video, $14.98).

LAURA'S STAR was released theatrically in Europe and won numerous awards, including the Adults Jury Price, Animation, at the 2005 Chicago International Children's Film Festival, a Lola for Outstanding Children or Youth Film Award at the 2005 German Film Awards, and was nominated for Best Film at the 2005 Carrousel International du Film.

Based on Klaus Baumgart's popular children's book, LAURA'S STAR follows a young girl, Laura, who feels very alone when her family moves from the countryside to the big city due to her mother's new job. On her first night in the new, strange surroundings, Laura has trouble sleeping and witnesses a shooting star fall from the sky. When she runs to find it, she discovers the star has broken its leg, so Laura mends it the only way she knows how by use of a band-aid. With its leg newly reattached, the star begins scattering stardust around Laura's bedroom, which brings all her toys to life. Through her newfound friendship with this magical star, Laura slowly learns how to adjust to her new surroundings, make new friends and discover that change can be good.
