Happy Feet Won’t Debut in IMAX 3-D

HAPPY FEET wont be dancing in IMAX 3-D just yet. Warner Bros. Pictures and IMAX announced that due to time constraints the animated feature about a tap-dancing penguin from Animal Logic would open in IMAX 2-D rather than 3-D on Nov. 17. There just wasnt sufficient time to deliver the master print and then convert it to 3-D by IMAX.

A spokeswoman for Warner Bros. Pictures noted that a 3-D release of the film was still in the cards at some point.

"Unfortunately, to release it (concurrently in IMAX and conventional theaters) it had to be in 2-D, and we're exploring a subsequent release in 3-D," added IMAX co-chairman/co-ceo Richard L. Gelfond. "We remain really excited about this movie."

Founded in 1967, IMAX Corp. (www.imax.com) is one of the world's leading entertainment technology companies and the newest distribution window for Hollywood films. IMAX delivers the world's best cinematic presentations using proprietary IMAX, IMAX 3-D, and IMAX DMR technology. As of March 31, 2006, there were 266 IMAX theaters operating in 36 countries.
