Director J.D. Dillard and Matt Owens are slated to develop a new ‘Star Wars’ feature with Lucasfilm.
A new Star Wars feature film is officially in development at Lucasfilm with director J.D. Dillard (Sleight, Sweetheart) and writer Matt Owens (Luke Cage, The Defenders)!
And… that’s all we know! All other details, including era, location, and characters, all remain on the Dark Side. That includes whether this project will be released theatrically or head straight to Disney Plus. We do know that the next Star Wars film will debut in Dec. 2022, but we don’t know if this announcement is that project… or not. Or what that project is, if not this.
The new Dillard/Owens project could very well end up on Disney Plus, however, as Walt Disney Company chairman Bob Iger has said that “the priority in the next few years [for Star Wars] is television.” Either way, excited for new content we are.
