In an interview with WIRED, Seth MacFarlane said that Fox is interested in a FAMILY GUY feature film. He said the show's creators know what they want to do, but the only stumbling block is finding the time. MacFarlane said that they are in the early planning stages.
Hitfix is reporting that HANGOVER star Bradley Cooper is a top contender for the lead in GREEN LANTERN. CASINO ROYALE's Martin Campbell is set to direct. Cooper has also had roles in the feature films WEDDING CRASHERS, YES MAN, and HE'S JUST NOT THAT INTO YOU, and TV roles on ALIAS, KITCHEN CONFIDENTIAL, and NIP/TUCK.
San Francisco, CA, May 01, 2009 -- Red Giant Studios, LLC., a new animation and visual effects studio founded by Dalton Grant, Jr and Cindy Rangel, announces its plan to release its first CG-animated short, THE WAY TO HEAVEN, in July of 2009.
After pulling the plug on the project three years ago, Fox is reinventing the sci-fi comedy USED GUYS, according to VARIETY. Ben Stiller is still attached as star and produce, but Jim Carrey is out and LITTLE MISS SUNSHINE directing team of Valerie Faris and Jonathan Dayton are set to replace Jay Roach. In addition, Reese Witherspoon is in talks to star as well.
The story follows two pleasure clones that have run out of their usefulness.
VARIETY reports that Hugh Jackman and his Seed Prods. producing partner John Palermo are already planning a WOLVERINE 2. The sequel will move the action to Japan where Wolverine will learn the ancient skills of the samurai. Seed is looking for a writer.
Bloody-Disgusting reports that MEDIEVAL scribe Alex Litvak will be writing a new version of PREDATORS, Robert Rodriguez's planned PREDATOR reboot. Produced by Troublemaker Studios and 20th Century Fox, the film will tell the story of a commando team sent to battle a team of Predators. Rodriguez has said he will not be directing, but Fox is eager to get this one done. They have set July 9, 2010 as the release date.
The NFB has posted a teaser trailer for Oscar-winner Chris Landreth's latest animated short, THE SPINE. The film is a story of redemption following the relationship between a man and a woman trapped in a spiral of mutual destruction. Dan and Mary Rutherford, married 26 years, sit unhappily in a couples’ group counseling session. Angela, another troubled participant in this group, wonders why their marriage has become so lopsided, so twisted. But when Mary leaves Dan, he undergoes a beautiful transformation. What will happen when she returns?
PRODUCTION WEEKLY has corrected their report that Dwayne Johnson will be involved with Disney's 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA (via IESB.net).

Despite a secret plot, Christopher Nolan's INCEPTION has just added two more top-notch actors: Ken Watanabe and Tom Hardy, per THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.
Nolan wrote the script, an actioner set in the architecture of the mind, and will direct. Leonardo DiCaprio stars as a CEO-type, while Watanabe will be the film's villain who is blackmailing DiCaprio's character. Hardy will be a member of DiCaprio's team.
The cast already includes Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Cillian Murphy, Ellen Page and Marion Cotillard. Watanabe worked with Nolan on BATMAN BEGINS.
X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE (Fox, vfx by Cinesite, Hydraulx, Image Engine Design, Lola Visual Effects, Matte World Digital, Rising Sun Pictures, Soho VFX and Vital Distraction) won its opening weekend with $85.06M.
Warner Bros./New Line romantic comedy opener GHOSTS OF GIRLFRIENDS PAST (vfx by CIS Hollywood and Rhythm & Hues) placed second with $15.4M.
Last week's winner, OBSESSED (ScreenGems, vfx from Lola Visual Effects) dropped to third with $12.05M and a two-week cume of $46.9M.
Hugh Jackman is now attached to star in GHOSTOPOLIS, per THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER, an upcoming graphic novel by Doug TenNapel set up at Disney.
Jackman is set to produce through his Seed Productions. The Gotham Group will also produce. Casey Wolfe will oversee for Disney.

In a brief Twitter post, Production Daily said HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE director Mike Newell was in negotiations to direct Disney's LONE RANGER. Little is known of the project outside of an announcement that Johnny Depp was attached to play Tonto and that PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN scribes Ted Elliot and Terry Russo had penned the script. Newell is currently in production on PRINCE OF PERSIA for Disney.
Warner Bros. has picked up the live-action feature rights to Japanese manga series DEATH NOTE, according to VARIETY. Writers Charley and Vlas Parlapanides will adapt the project. Plot follows a college student who gains the powers to kill a person by simply writing down their name and thinking of them.
Via VARIETY, we learn FRIDAY THE 13TH helmer Marcus Nispel is in negotiations to direct THE LAST VOYAGE OF DEMETER, which is based on the chapter in Bram Stoker's DRACULA where the Count travels from Transylvania to England aboard a cargo ship. The Phoenix Pictures production will be produced by Mike Medavoy, Arnie Messer, and Brad Fischer.
Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions Group has picked up domestic media rights for East Wing Holdings Corp. and SAJ's BLOOD: THE LAST VAMPIRE. Samuel Goldwyn Films will release the feature film BLOOD: THE LAST VAMPIRE in theatres later this summer.
Luma Pictures, the Venice, CA visual effects studio, created 125 visual effects shots for X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE, the lion's share of which appear in the concluding "Aftermath" sequence. Luma created the CG environment where the scene takes place-a destroyed nuclear reactor and its environs-as well as the huge assortment of dust, debris and other atmospherics that accompanies the mayhem. Most significantly, its team of animators produced photo-real CG doubles for several of the film's mutant cast, including Victor Creed (Sabretooth), as well as Wolverine's adamantium claws.
NEHST Studios, a film production, financing and distribution company helmed by Larry Meistrich, has acquired Sandrunner Entertainment's feature film, THE PALE HORSEMEN. The film is based on an upcoming Darkstorm Studios graphic novel of the same name.
Written and created by UNDERWORLD creator, Kevin Grevioux, THE PALE HORSEMEN graphic novel is the story of a gang of mysterious hit men, forced together to uncover who killed their assassin mentor. Grevioux will also write the screenplay and make his directorial debut with this supernatural crime thriller.
Dimension Films has announced the new release date for John Hillcoat's adaptation of Cormac McCarthy's THE ROAD. Delayed since last fall, the post-apocalyptic tale will arrive in theaters Oct. 16, 2009. The film stars Viggo Mortensen, Charlize Theron, Guy Pearce, Kodi Smit-McPhee and Robert Duvall. The story follows a quiet man and his son as they venture across the decimated U.S. to a safe spot on the East Coast while trying to avoid cannibals and killers along the way.
SCREEN DAILY reports that Imprint Ent. has snagged the rights to remake Korean horror flick PHONE from Mirovision. The remake film had been languishing in development hell at Rogue Pictures for three years. The original film's director, Ahn Byung-ki, is set to direct and plans to shoot in Korea at the end of the year. Ahn will produce along with Mirovision CEO Jason Chae and Imprint producer Mark Morgan. Imprint hopes to have the film in theaters next summer.
IESB reports that Todd McFarlane is in negotiations to produce another SPAWN film. McFarlane said that he hopes to write and direct the new film. Offers for the film have been put out to five studios with budgets ranging from big tentpole releases to indie sized productions. McFarlane is leaning toward the smaller film, which would be "creepy."
Two-time nominee Cordell Barker (THE CAT RETURNS and STRANGE INVADERS) is working on a new animated short for the NFB, which has posted a trailer for the film. The Film Board's description is as follows: "Happy passengers are having a great time on a crowded train, oblivious to the unknown fate that awaits them around the bend. The ensuing crisis leads to a class struggle that is as amusing as it is merciless. Naturally there are victims, but in the end everyone is equal." Check it out.
Danny Huston has signed on to play Poseidon in the remake of CLASH OF THE TITANS, according to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER. The Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures production also stars Liam Neeson, Ralph Fiennes, Sam Worthington, Mads Mikkelsen, Gemma Arterton, Jason Flemyng and Alexa Davalos
THE INCREDIBLE HULK helmer Louis Leterrier is directing the Perseus myth film. Production started Monday in the U.K. Thunder Road's Basil Iwanyk and Kevin de la Noy are producing.
