Anyone who stuck around after the credits of X-MEN ORIGINS: WOLVERINE knows what really happened to Deadpool. Now 20th Century Fox has said its developing a DEADPOOL film, which will star Ryan Reynolds, reports VARIETY.
The character's cinematic rendition seems to be different than the comics. In the comics, mercenary Wade Wilson submitted to the Weapon X program to cure his cancer. In the film, he seems like a helpless pawn of Colonel Stryker. One thing is for sure, Reynolds' wisecracking persona is perfect for the character who has been describe as being like the actor in the comics.
Lauren Shuler Donner and Marvel will produce.
DEADPOOL is the second follow-up to the successful WOLVERINE to be announced. A WOLVERINE sequel set in Japan is also in development. Additionally from the X-MEN universe, X-MEN ORIGINS: MAGNETO and X-MEN: FIRST CLASS are in development.
