Zoic Brings HP’s Francois II Spot to Life

Continuing a successful collaboration with Goodby, Silverstein and Partners and director Francois Vogel of Paris-based Paranoid Projects: Tool, Zoic Studios has just completed the visual effects for HP's FRANCOIS II, which showcases the capability of the HP Photosmart 375. Last year's spots, FRANCOIS I and PICTURE BOOK, were both recent Clio winners, garnering the Bronze and Silver for Best Visual Effects, respectively.

For FRANCOIS II, Vogel takes the self-portrait of FRANCOIS I to the next level, artfully framing his face and then creating frames within to illustrate the expediency and versatility of the HP Photosmart 375 printer, which prints photos without a computer in less than a minute.

In order to execute this seamless altered reality, Zoic Studios composited various layers of imagery using After Effects and finishing in HD via the flame. Key to this process was a close collaboration with Francois Colou, Vogel's visual effects supervisor, who provided Zoic with a conceptual road map for the project in After Effects. Chris Jones oversaw the Zoic Studios team in Los Angeles as they created the final version.

Prologue of Malibu, California, provided title design/motion graphics. Kyle Cooper was the designer, Stephen Schuster was the designer/animator and James Choi and Gary Mau were the animators.

Zoic credits include:

* Executive Producer: Steve Schofield* Producer: Trista Wahl* Creative Director/VFX Supervisor: Chris Jones* After Effects Artists: Kyle McCullough, Jared Sandrew, Christina Garranchan, Antony Graf
