‘Hawkeye’ Spinoff with Native American Character Echo in Early Development

Soon to be introduced in Disney+’s ‘Hawkeye’ series, the deaf fighter, aka Maya Lopez, can mimic any movements or fighting styles she sees and held the moniker of ‘Ronin’ before passing it off to Clint Barton for ‘Endgame.’

Another Marvel spinoff may be coming to Disney+! The highly anticipated Hawkeye series, featuring the Avenger of the same name, is set to introduce Echo, a deaf Native American fighter played by Alaqua Cox. Echo, aka Maya Lopez, can mimic any movements or fighting styles she sees, making her an extremely adaptable and unpredictable fighter. If all goes well, Miss Lopez will be getting her own series, according to a Variety exclusive.

Echo held the moniker of ‘Ronin’ before passing it off to Clint Barton (which he used in Avengers: Endgame), so perhaps her series will be a prequel. If the show does go to series, Etan and Emily Cohen will write and executive produce under the Marvel Studios banner.

Jeremy Renner reprises his role as Barton on Hawkeye alongside Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop, Barton’s protégé. The series follows the events of Endgame and will be directed by Rhys Thomas and Bert & Bertie.

Hawkeye will debut in late 2021 on Disney+.
