Call for Entries: Animest International Animation Film Festival

The 19th edition of the festival is accepting submissions for competition in multiple categories; the festival runs October 4-13, 2024, in Bucharest.

The 19th edition of Animest International Animation Film Festival is now accepting submissions for its next edition, running October 4-13 in Bucharest. The festival, founded in 2006, is the only festival in Romania dedicated to animated film. Participants worldwide are invited to compete in six competitive categories for short and feature films. The submission deadline is June 23, 2024.

Animest is the only OSCAR-qualifying film festival in Romania, a member of the Animation Festival Network, and a partner of CEE Animation. Winners receive trophies and prize money, with the winner of the Animest Trophy eligible for consideration in the Animated Short Film category of the Academy Awards without the standard theatrical run, provided the film otherwise complies with the Academy rules.

Submissions are accepted in the following categories:

  • Feature film
  • Short film
  • Anidoc
  • Student film (graduate or undergraduate)
  • Music Video
  • Romanian short film
  • Minimest (children’s film)
  • VR film
