Wild Hogs Rides to Top of the Box Office

Buena Vista's road comedy with Tim Allen and John Travolta, WILD HOGS, debuted at the top of the box office chart for the weekend ended March 4, 2007, racking up $39.6M. David Fincher's gripping but cerebral ZODIAC bowed in second with $13.3M for Paramount (with vfx from Digital Domain and Matte World Digital). Third place belonged to last week's winner, GHOST RIDER, which raced home with another $11.5M (with vfx from Sony Pictures Imageworks). The Sony release now has a cume of $94.8M. Although it slipped a notch to fourth place, Buena Vista's BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA picked up an additional $8.9M (with vfx from Weta Digital), for a cume of $58.2M. New Line's THE NUMBER 23 settled for the fifth spot with $6.4M. With vfx by Intelligent Creatures, the Jim Carrey thriller now has a cume of $24.1M. Paramount/DreamWorks' NORBIT (with vfx from Digital Dimension) followed in sixth with $6.3M for a cume of $82.9M. Warner Bros.' MUSIC AND LYRICS occupied the seventh spot with $4.8M and a tally of $38.6M. Debuting in eighth with $4.1M was BLACK SNAKE MOAN from Paramount Vantage. Ninth place belonged to Fox's RENO 911!: MIAMI, with $3.9M and a total of $16.6M. The 10th place finisher was Universal's BREACH (with vfx by Mr. X), which took in $3.6M for a cume of $25.5M.

And in its third week, THE 2006 ACADEMY AWARD NOMINATED SHORT FILMS from Magnolia Pictures, added $18,857 on 13 screens for a total of $284, 248. Box office information obtained from boxofficemojo.com.
