GDH Offers PAPO on Blu-ray & HD DVD, Role in Anime Series

GDH K.K. has announced it will release PROJECT PAPO on both next-generation high-definition formats Blu-ray and HD DVD. The Blu-ray DVD will be distributed by Sony Pictures Ent. (Japan) lnc.

PAPO is a mysterious robot that also functions as a speaker. People who become mesmerized by PAPO's mystifying music experience various bizarre but unique events. What could the true identity of PAPO be?

Project PAPO was produced by GDHs group company G-creators K.K. and will be released on Nov. 3, 2006. PROJECT PAPO was distributed through shockwave.com in 2000 as a webisode animation series, attracting one million hits. For the DVD the sound and image will be rendered in 720p high-resolution video and 5.1 surround sound.

Moreover, GDH has announced that, in collaboration with H.I.S. Co, Ltd., it will launch a campaign in which travelers can win the opportunity to be made into animated characters and appear in RED GARDEN, an animated TV series produced by GDH's group company, GONZO K.K.

To be eligible contestants must purchase either air tickets or package tour to the U.S. to H.I.S. East Japan offices and must register on the special website of the campaign. Twelve people will be selected from the applicants and these winners will be given the opportunity to appear as animation characters in RED GARDEN, which is scheduled to premier in October 2006. GONZO's animators will make the winners into animated characters and these characters will appear in the episodes to be aired between January and March 2007. The winners will also have their names listed on the end credits and receive a recording script of the episode they appear in along with the recorded DVD. This never-seen-before campaign in the industry will provide unique opportunities not only for GONZO animation fans but also for a wider TV audience.

In RED GARDEN, four schoolgirls in contemporary New York learn when their encounter with a cruel and brutal hidden world results in their untimely deaths. But when they are resurrected as vampires, blessed with a chance to escape death, but cursed with a shadowy half-existence, they must fight on behalf of their new masters even as they watch their old lives slipping away from them.
