Australia’s ‘Blinky Bill’ Goes Global

Already a hit in Poland, Australia’s favorite Koala, ‘Blinky Bill,’ heads to international territories in CG animated feature from Flying Bark Productions, Assemblage and Telegael Teoranta.

MUNICH -- International film sales company Studio 100 Film has announced the upcoming release of the full length CGI feature film Blinky Bill The MovieAustralia’s favorite Koala has already launched onto cinema screens in Poland and the next dates will be Bulgaria (September 11), Australia (September 17), South Korea (September 24), Romania (October 2), the Middle East and Slovakia (October 15), the Czech Republic (October 22) and Hungary (November 19). Further dates for the rest of the world will be announced shortly.

Produced by Flying Bark Productions (Australia) in co-production with Assemblage (India) and Telegael Teoranta (Ireland) and in association with Screen Australia and Screen New South Wales, Blinky Bill The Movie has an all-star cast including Ryan Kwanten (HBO’s “True Blood”) as the voice of Blinky Bill, Robin McLeavy (TV’s “Hell On Wheels”) as Blinky’s best friend Nutsy and Rufus Sewell (A Knights Tale) as the treacherous feral cat Sir Claude.  Starring alongside them are Toni Collette (Little Miss Sunshine) as two charming yet gossipy emus Sheryl and Beryl, Barry Humphries (Dame Edna Everage) as the wildly eccentric Wombo, David Wenham (The Lord Of The Rings: Return Of The King) as the manic but loveable frill-necked lizard Jacko, Deborah Mailman (The Sapphires) as Blinky’s kind and courageous mum, Richard Roxburgh (Moulin Rouge) as Blinky’s adventure loving father and Barry Otto (The Great Gatsby) as the tyrannical Mayor Cranklepot.

Blinky Bill The Movie is based on the 1930’s Australian book series by Dorothy Wall and is considered an iconic children’s classic.  A small koala with a big imagination, Blinky is an adventurer at heart who dreams of leaving the little town of Green Patch and following his explorer father’s footsteps. Blinky embarks on a journey that takes him beyond the boundary of Greenpatch in the wild and dangerous Australian landscape in his quest to find his missing father.
