VES Festival 2004

The Visual Effects Society (VES) will present VES 2004, its sixth annual Festival of Visual Effects, June 18-20 in San Rafael, California. The three-day event at The Rafael Film Center features presentations and panels headed by visual effects supervisors and their teams, which focus on vfx and how they enhance the storytelling process.

"The VES Festivals are the cornerstone of storytelling for visual effects," stated VES founding exec director Tom Atkin. " As we enter our sixth year of festivals in the United States and our fourth in Europe, VES relishes the opportunity to intimately share this process with its members and visual effects professionals."

Friday, June 18, 2004 9:30 am - 11:30 am Film Visual Effects Techniques in Games Presented by visual effects supervisors Habib Zargarpour, Henry LaBounta, Mohammed Davoudian.

1:00 pm - 3:00 pm Mars Movie Legends, Myth and Reality Panel will be moderated by Craig Barron (Matte World Digital) and includes Dr, Dan McCleese (JPL) and visual effects supervisors Jeff Okun (RED PLANET), Hoyt Yeatman (MISSION TO MARS) and Mike Fink (MARS ATTACKS!).

4:00 pm - 6:00 pm SHREK 2

8:00 pm - 11:00 pm SKY CAPTAIN AND THE WORLD OF TOMORROW Presented by the film's visual effects supervisor Scott Anderson and team and includes a special screening of the film.

Saturday June 19, 2004 9:30 am - 11:30 am MYTHBUSTERS Jamie Hyneman (m5 industries) presents a look at how visual effects are employed on the Discovery Channel series MYTHBUSTERS.

1:00 pm - 3:00 pm THE DAY AFTER TOMORROW Presented by the film's visual effects supervisor Karen Goulekas and team.

4:00 pm - 6:00pm TROY Presented by the visual effects team from Moving Picture Company in London.

Sunday, June 20, 2004 9:30am - 11:30 am Make Up Effects in a Digital World Presented by Emmy Award-winning make up/visual effects supervisor Todd Masters (MastersFX).

1:00 pm - 3:00 pm VAN HELSING Presented by the visual effects team at ILM.

4:00 pm - 6:00 pm AROUND THE WORLD IN 80 DAYS Presented by the film's visual effects producer Susan Zwerman, visual effects supervisor Derek Spears (Rhythm & Hues) and team.
