Disney Teams with Make-A-Wish Foundation on ‘From Our Family to Yours’ Christmas Short

Animated by New Zealand studio Flux, the new short, about Christmas traditions shared by a grandmother and her granddaughter who have drifted apart, spearheads the non-profit organization’s holiday fund-raising drive.

The Holiday season has officially begun! Disney and the Make-A-Wish Foundation have just released a heartwarming three-minute short, From Our Family to Yours, depicting the relationship between a grandmother, her grown-up granddaughter, and the stuffed Mickey Mouse that brings them back together.

The animated story begins in 1940, as the grandmother receives a Mickey Mouse toy as a child in the Philippines. She cherishes the plushie, and eventually passes it on to her own granddaughter. They bond over Christmas traditions and the Disney toy, but their relationship drifts apart through the years as the granddaughter gets older. Thankfully, the granddaughter realizes just how important their holiday traditions are and surprises her grandmother with the Christmas display of a lifetime.

“Christmas is a time for giving and giving back, and we’re delighted to debut this festive ad campaign supporting our long-term charity partner Make-A-Wish,” said Tasia Filippatos, SVP, Disney EMEA. “Our goal was to tell a universal story that inspires through the themes of family, love and special holiday traditions.”

Watch the heartwarming short below:

The short was produced by New Zealand-based animation studio Flux, marking the 40th anniversary of Disney’s partnership with the non-profit Make-A-Wish Foundation, which raises funds to help fulfill the wishes of children - between the ages of 2 1/2 and 18 years old - with a critical illness. In conjunction with the From Our Family release, the foundation will be selling the vintage-inspired Mickey Mouse plush toys depicted in the short. Disney will follow suit with $1 donations to the foundation every time the hashtag #LoveFromDisney is shared on social media alongside a festive holiday memory.

For hardcore Disney fans, be sure to keep an eye out for easter eggs and hidden Mickeys sprinkled throughout the short. Hint: check out the DVD collection!
