Writer Haimes Hired for Family History

Screenwriter Marc Haimes has been hired by Fox to pen adventure script FAMILY HISTORY, according to THE HOLLYWOOD REPORTER.

Described as NATIONAL TREASURE meets BACK TO THE FUTURE, the film has been shepherded by producers Cormac & Marianne Wibberley, who co-wrote the two NATIONAL TREASURE films for Disney. Michael Punke originally wrote the script.

Steve Golin of Anonymous Content is producing with Peter Kang overseeing for the studio. A story line for the film was unconfirmed by Fox. Haimes was an exec at DreamWorks for 13 years and sold his first screenplay in March.

"It's an adventure about a family on a treasure hunt through time," Haimes said. "It has the kind of big idea that I loved working on as an executive. At DreamWorks, I never tried to brand myself. Working on lots of different types of movies was what I loved to do. I hope to have that same opportunity as a screenwriter."
