WiCM Relaunches as Children’s Media Association

Women in Children’s Media (WiCM) is proud to announce it has relaunched as Children’s Media Association (CMA) in order to better embrace and serve the growing children’s media community.

New York, NY -- Women in Children’s Media (WiCM)

is proud to announce it has relaunched as Children’s Media Association (CMA)in order to better embrace and serve the growing children’s media community. CMA will continue to provide members with exclusive events and networking opportunities, access to leaders in the field and, through its new and expanded website (www.cmanyc.org), a wider array of resources and forums.

A new partnership with Sesame Workshop, the nonprofit educational organization behind Sesame Street, will support the organization’s continued growth and expansion. The first event hosted by the rebranded CMA will be a puppetry workshop with celebrated puppeteer John Tartaglia (Johnny and the Sprites) on October 10th. A robust schedule of events covering a wide array of topics in television, digital media, and publishing will follow.

Children’s Media Association also welcomes new leadership to its Board of Directors: Jocelyn Christie, VP and Publisher, Kidscreen; David Kleeman, President, American Center for Children and Media; and Nicole Goldman, Sr. VP, Marketing & PR, The Jim Henson Company. New additions to the Board join existing Directors Amy Friedman, President, Redhead Consulting; Donna Friedman Meir, President, Lemonade Creative Consulting; Angela Santomero, Co-founder, Out of the Blue Enterprises & Creator, Executive Producer, Blue's Clues, Super Why & Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood; and Livia Beasley, Freelance Writer, Producer, Developer and Founder of Women in Children’s Media.

"We have been steadily growing since WiCM was founded in 2004, and want our membership to reflect the community in which it works,” said Sarah Wallendjack, Children’s Media Association President. “We are fortunate to work in a media field in which women and men are equally represented at all levels, from creators to executives. By rebranding as Children’s Media Association and securing partnerships with like-minded organizations such as Sesame Workshop, we are reaffirming our commitment to serve the children’s media community in as broad and comprehensive a way as possible.
