Tom Hanks will star in Andy and Lana Wachowski and Tom Tykwer's CLOUD ATLAS adaptation, reports Variety. The trio of directors will co-write and co-direct the film version of David Mitchell's novel, which follows six interconnected stories that stretch over time from 1850 to a post-apocalyptic distant future.
Five Drops' Stefan Arndt and Grant Hill are the producers alongside exec producer Philip Lee.
Warner Bros. will release the film in the U.S. and Focus Features reps the international rights.
Filming will start in September.
