SPIN Opens West Coast Studio

SPIN takes its vision to Vancouver, creating a new studio, SPIN West VFX. The new studio (SPIN is headquartered in Toronto with another shop in Atlanta) has hit the ground running, landing vfx work on the much-anticipated television miniseries STEPHEN KING'S KINGDOM HOSPITAL. Close behind the Stephen King production is work for STARGATE SG1 (Sci Fi Channel) and SPYMATES (Keystone Pictures).

Headed by Emmy-nominated artist Doug Campbell, the Vancouver studio was created to serve SPINs increasing business in television and film work. Sometimes referred to as "Hollywood North," Vancouver is the third largest film production center in North America.

Campbell, formerly of GVFX Vancouver, is an experienced VFX artist with more than 20 years experience. His choice tool is the hi-def flame on Tezro from Discreet Logic, which is supported by an array of such tools as Maya, Shake and combustion. Late last year, the Toronto house upgraded its two post suites with new HD-capable inferno/flame systems. The Atlanta SPIN location, led by Keith Adams, recently upgraded its inferno/fire suites to match.

As a leading inferno artist, Campbell's credits include STARGATE SG-1, DEAD LIKE ME (Showtime) and JEREMIAH (Showtime). His most recent work can be seen on the Disney feature film, MIRACLE, starring Kurt Russell.

Founded in 1986, SPIN creates visual effects, motion design and animation for feature film, commercials, television series and broadcasters, from concept to final delivery.
