Shrek 2 Sets Three-Day Home Vid Sales Record

Not only did the animation world celebrate the opening of THE INCREDIBLES, which captured a record $70.4M last weekend for Disney and Pixar, but also DreamWorks Animation SKG reported that SHREK 2 generated an estimated $185M in retail revenue when it bowed over the same three-day period, including a record 11 million units in DVD sales.

SHREK 2 easily eclipsed the original SHREK, which sold more than seven million units in the first three days of its 2001 release.

"This record pace is reflective of the movie's broad appeal -- everyone from kids, parents and general audiences are adding SHREK 2 to their DVD library, " said Kelley Avery, worldwide head of DreamWorks Home Ent. "With the SHREK 2 marketing campaign now in full swing and an extensive effort continuing through the holidays, our replenishment efforts are fully underway."

SHREK 2, which opened on May 18, 2004, ranks as the third highest grossing film of all time domestically, with $440.8M.

Retailing for $29.99, bonus features on the DVD include:* Brand new alternate ending* Commentary by the filmmakers* Technical Goofs* Meet Puss in Boots* Meet the cast of SHREK 2* The Tech of SHREK 2* More than 20 games and activities* Shrek's Music Room & more
