Sci Fi Channel Hits Ratings High With Mystery Of The Crystal Skulls

Sci Fi Channel's new original special MYSTERY OF THE CRYSTAL SKULLS, which premiered on Sunday May 18 and hosted by NBC News' Lester Holt, scored ratings records as the #1 documentary special in Sci Fi history.

The Sunday night special which aired at 9 p.m. brought in a 2.2 household rating 1.4 P18-49, 1.6 P25-54 and 2.8 million total viewers. Sci Fi was the #1 cable network in primetime Sunday and delivered four of the top five P25-54 telecasts for the day and four of the top six P18-49 telecasts, including the #1 telecast of the day in both demos.

In addition, the Saturday and Sunday airings of INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE combined to set several records as Sci Fi's top movie telecasts ever, with Saturday's performance ranking #1 with a 3.0 HH rating and 2.4 P25-54 and Sunday's airing placing #1 with 2.1 P18-49 and 3.9 million total viewers.

INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE was the #1 cable program for both P18-49 and P25-54 on both Saturday and Sunday, and the Saturday telecast was the #1 primetime cable entertainment program for the entire week among P25-54 viewers.

On Saturday Sci Fi was the #1 cable entertainment network for both P18-49 and P25-54, and outperformed CBS, ABC and NBC in the 8-11 p.m. time period.

This is Sci Fi's top Saturday 8-11 p.m. performance ever in all key demos.

On Sunday Sci Fi was the #1 cable network for both P18-49 and P25-54 in 8 p.m.-11 p.m. primetime.

MYSTERY OF THE CRYSTAL SKULLS gives viewers an insider's look at the real treasure of Indiana Jones' newest adventure, and explores the true history of the legendary relics, unearthing the myths, legends and controversies that surround them. Could the skulls be ancient Mayan prophecies of doom or relics from the Lost City of Atlantis? Or do they, as some believe, store the vast knowledge of a highly advanced extraterrestrial civilization.

To try to answer these questions, Sci Fi launched an unprecedented expedition into the jungles of Belize to track down the missing skulls. The special, shot in HD, is produced by NBC Peacock Productions in association with Sci Fi.
