Press Release from Zinkia Entertainment

Madrid Spain – November 9, 2011:  Zinkia Entertainment has partnered with UNICEF to utilize the Pocoyo character to support Universal Children’s Day on November 20, 2011, which will help further the global mission of UNICEF: educating children and adults about the rights and protection of children.

The United Nations’ Universal Children’s Day was established in 1954, and is celebrated on November 20 each year to promote international togetherness and awareness among children worldwide. UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s Fund, promotes and coordinates this special day, which also works towards improving children’s welfare.

As a partner, Pocoyo will help educate millions of children and adults about the protection of children worldwide.  As part of the campaign, Pocoyo will be featured in eight specially produced PSA’s to promote the basic rights for and protection of children all over the world with themes, including family, identity, equality, play, participation, health and education. The PSA’s are available for broadcast and online.  Additionally, Pocoyo will deliver the message online, with downloadable activities, and through Pocoyo’s social media platforms.

José María Castillejo, Chairman of Zinkia, commented. "The values that Pocoyo represents fit perfectly with the objectives promoted by UNICEF--a collaboration focused mainly on promoting children’s rights and child protection. We are proud that UNICEF has allowed Pocoyo and Zinkia to play an important role in this way. We will work together to implement actions that, through fun, instill values and habits in favor of the goals of UNICEF."

Paloma Escudero, Executive Director of UNICEF Spain, with whom the agreement was signed, stated, "Companies and organizations are key partners in our work by contributing with knowledge, experience and resources. They have the potential to become prominent players of a transformation that is able to change the lives of millions of children. We appreciate Zinkia and its character Pocoyo joining our work to promote values and rights for children."
