The British Animation Awards (BAA) covers all aspects of the U.K. animation scene, from student work to commercials, childrens entertainment, short and experimental films to music videos, new technologies, scriptwriting and craftsmanship.

Two new categories have been added. The Best European Animated Feature award is open to any animated feature film, which has been made in Europe between 2002 to 2005, by a production company registered and operating within Europe, and where the key creative talent is European. The New Platforms for Animation (U.K. only) category is for work designed primarily for online delivery, which includes webtoons, non-narrative abstractions, interactive Web toys, Web games (but strictly not console games), animations created for mobile phones or on pdas, etc.

The pre-selection jury will select five finalists, which will be screened at the National Film Theatre, London in February 2006 in the run up to the awards, at which the winner will be announced.

Entry deadlines are staggered as follows: student films and feature films entry deadline is Oct. 31, 2005, and all other categories deadline is Nov. 30, 2005.
