ODD Gets an FX Grip for Golf Pride

Director/Creative Director Gary Breslin combines live action footage with a bevy of visual effects to demonstrate the benefits of Golf Pride’s grips.

Los Angeles, CA -- ODD (Office of Development & Design) has released a striking campaign for Golf Pride through Ames Scullin O’Haire, Atlanta promoting its latest line of golf grips, designed to provide more power and comfort for golfers from tee to green.

Director / Creative Director Gary Breslin combined live action footage with a bevy of visual effects to demonstrate the benefits Golf Pride’s grips. The campaign comes full circle for ODD, following last years successful campaign promoting Golf Pride, a company recognized as a global leader in golf grip technology...

“We wanted to build on the distinctive look we established last year and to elevate it.  We can confidently say that’s exactly what we achieved with this years creative,” explains Matthew Turke, Head of Production at ODD on the campaign.

Breslin crafted two arresting spots to highlight the technologies of the MCC Plus4 and CP2 grips. The work steps away from a multitude of classic “green and swing” commercials that litter the Golf Channel and beyond, instead focusing on the hands of the golfer:“The branding is really about the hand,” outlines Breslin. “We needed to show lighter grip pressure, reduced tension and increased power in the work, all elements offered by these new, innovative grips.”

Patrick Scullin, ECD / Managing Partner at Ames Scullin O’Haire notes an important element in the success of the campaign was showing the benefits of the clubs in a purely visual way. “One of the objectives for us was to communicate without hearing audio,” he notes. “So many times golf commercials are seen on TV in a bar or a golf club so the audience is often clear across the room. We knew to reach a wider audience the campaign needed to communicate without the benefit of audio…”
