M1 Singapore Fringe Festival is an annual festival of theatre, performance arts, film, dance, visual arts, mixed media, music and forum created and presented by Singaporean and international artists. Themed differently each year, the festival aims to bring the best of contemporary, cutting-edge and socially-engaged works to the Singapore audience.
The works for the 2006 festival will revolve around the theme Art and Healing. For healing to exist, there must first be disease, tragedy, death, mortality, heartache, racism, rape, murder, plague, epidemic, genocide. Over the centuries, art has captured, whether through words, images, songs or other forms, how we go through different degrees of agony and relief.
