Landreth, Plympton, Canemaker Win at Kalamazoo

Animation as entertainment, education, employment and art was in the spotlight when the third Kalamazoo Animation Festival International (KAFI) was staged the weekend of May 13-15, 2005.

Winners of KAFI 2005 included RYAN by Chris Landreth, ITS THE CAT by Mark Kausler, ANDALUZ by Karen Aqua and Joanna Priestley, GUARD DOG by Bill Plympton, THE URCHIN by John Dilworth and THE MOON AND THE SUN by John Canemaker. MEGA HARD DRIVE of Kendall School of Art and Design won both the Judges and Public vote in the Cartoon Challenge. Other winners can be found online at http://kafi.kvcc.edu.

The festival was organized by Kalamazoo Valley Community College and its Center for New Media. The Irving S. Gilmore Foundation is the major underwriter of the festival. The next KAFI is tentatively scheduled in 2007.
