DECODE Does Hat Trick’s Bromwell High For Channel 4

DECODE Entertainment is co-producing the new 2D animated series BROMWELL HIGH with award-winning U.K. independent Hat Trick Productions for Channel 4s primetime schedule in 2005.

DECODE has worldwide distribution rights to BROMWELL HIGH excluding the U.K. and Ireland and already has a deal already in place with TELETOON Canada.

Set in the worst school in the world the 13x30 series follows the exploits of three exceptionally naughty schoolgirls, one maverick headmaster and a bunch of desperate teachers. Set in an under-funded, overcrowded, graffiti-scarred secondary school in south London, the girls are the first word in streetwise charm; precocious but likeable, with an uncanny knack of undermining all forms of authority and getting away with it.

Written by Richard Osman, Richard Pinto, and Sharat Sardana (GOODNESS GRACIOUS ME, THE KUMARS AT NO. 42) the series is bought to life by a voice cast of well-known comedy names including Nina Conti (Winner of BBC New Comedy Awards 2002), Jo Wyatt , Gina Yashere (CHEF, HOPE & GLORY) Stephan Merchant (co-creator and co-writer of THE OFFICE) Doon Mackichan (SMACK THE PONY), Graeme Garden (THE GOODIES), Simon Greenall (IM ALAN PARTRIDGE) and Tracy-Ann Oberman (BIG TRAIN, MARION AND GEOFF).

BROMWELL HIGH is produced by Anil Gupta (THE OFFICE, GOODNESS GRACIOUS ME, THE KUMARS AT NO. 42) Beth Stevenson and exec produced by Jimmy Mulville, Denise ODonoghue, Mario Stylianides (V GRAHAM NORTON, DEAD RINGERS) Neil Court and Steven DeNure. Stevenson, Court and DeNure are partners at DECODE Entertainment.

Keisha Marie has more brawn than brain and a big voice to match her big personality, Latrina is a brazen blonde with a head for sex and is always on the verge of pregnancy while Natella is a brainy born leader, using her intelligence to manipulate both pupils and staff. The trio are a new breed of young ladies, spending their time snatching credit cards, flirting with the bus conductor and causing havoc as soon as they enter the school gates.

BROMWELL HIGH is a unique new series and its great to be working with Hat Trick and Channel 4, which both have a fantastic reputation for quality popular programming, said Court. The show has a distinctive personality and is already proving to be a hit with the international market.

Jimmy Mulville at Hat Trick said, This is the first time Hat Trick has embarked upon an animation series and we could not have better production partners than DECODE. Combining our skills in producing distinctive half hour comedy and DECODEs impeccable taste and experience in delivering great-looking animation, we hope to bring a fresh and funny new show to Channel Four and broadcasters around the world.

BROMWELL HIGH marks DECODEs second foray into primetime animation following its hit series UNDERGRADS (co-produced with MTV). Headquartered in Toronto, with offices in London, DECODE (www.decode.tv) develops, finances, produces and distributes distinctive live action and animated programming for the family, childrens and youth markets.
