Byron Bay Fest Seeks Films

The BBFF 2007 festival will run Feb. 9-17, 2007. The theme for BBFF 2007 is looking to the future and the festival aims to explore the possibilities of filmmaking and related technology. In tune with the theme, BBFF is particularly looking for entries from films full of animation or visual effects or which are high-definition.

Films of all lengths and genres, which were completed after Jan. 1, 2005, are welcome to enter with awards available in the categories of Best Film, Young Filmmaker (under 25), Animation, Experimental, Surfing, Drama, Documentary, Marine, Comedy and Cinematography.

Famous for its laidback lifestyle, festivals and creative community, as with BBFF 2006, the films screened will reflect the local Byron Bay community by maintaining a strong emphasis on social and environmental issues, diversity, spirit, colorful characters, humor and, of course, being Byron Bay, surfing.

For the selection process, BBFF requires two copies of each film on either VHS (PAL or NTSC) or DVDs formatted for multi-zone or for Zone 4. VHS/DVDs should be labeled with the title and cases should be labeled with the title, filmmakers name, phone number and email.

If available, please include publicity material and/or stills, a bio and/or filmography.

If selected for exhibition, BBFF requires either a multi-zone or Region 4 DVD or a miniDV copy of your film.

BBFF provides a platform for independent filmmakers in all stages of their careers while selected filmmakers will be profiled and their films promoted by the festival before and for months after the festival through the BBFF website.
