Bulldog Licensing Signs up Super WHY

Bulldog Licensing has picked up the rights for SUPER WHY, the smash hit Nick Jr. show.

Reading is power and SUPER WHY is the only preschool property created to help children ages 3-6 learn the fundamentals of reading through interactive storybook adventures. The program represents a unique approach to pre-school educational television, featuring a team of superhero characters with literacy-based powers, who jump into books to look for answers to everyday challenges. The home viewer is the superhero sidekick, who is encouraged to participate in the reading adventure by playing research-based reading games.

As well as being hugely entertaining, SUPER WHY teaches important reading skills in a fun way, such as the alphabet, spelling, pronunciation, writing, phonics, and word usage. The standout, imagination-stimulating show comes from New York-based Out of the Blue Enterprises and is the brainchild of Angela C. Santomero -- one of the creators of the hugely successful preschool show, BLUE'S CLUES.

SUPER WHY has already taken the U.S. by storm, where it delivers massive ratings figures. The property has proved just as popular with U.S. licensees and the brand already appears on dress-up, books, T-shirts and toys. RC2 is already on board to bring the toys into the U.K. and Bulldog is confident that SUPER WHY will prove equally popular with licensees in this country.

SUPER WHY focuses on the adventures of four fairytale friends -- the ever-curious and resourceful 6-year-old Whyatt Beanstalk (Jack's younger brother), Red of LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD fame, Littlest Pig from THE THREE LITTLE PIGS and Princess Pea of the classic THE PRINCESS AND THE PEA. As soon as a problem arises, Whyatt calls his friends to the Book Club, where they transform into reading-powered superheroes: Alpha Pig with Alphabet Power, Wonder Red with Word Power, Princess Presto with Spelling Power, Super Why with the Power to Read and Super YOU with the Power to Help. Together, they embark on exciting reading adventures, where they play entertaining interactive literacy games to overcome obstacles and save the day.
